Youth Advocacy Division – Assistant Public Defender III
The Georgia Public Defender Council’s Youth Advocacy Division, located downtown at the Central Office, is currently advertising to hire an Assistant Public Defender III. The candidate will be an SB440 expert and will handle a caseload primarily of SB440 cases. Experience with these types of cases is required though training will be provided as well. Must have interest in Youth defense and have eight (8) years of good standing with the State Bar.

Duties and responsibilities include providing skilled legal representation to indigent youth facing criminal allegations, deprivation/dependency actions, and other matters in Juvenile Court. Candidates should have substantial Juvenile and Youth Court experience, including frequent SB440 appearances in Superior Court, and be capable of managing complex caseloads using a trauma-informed, client-centered approach.
