Job Description:

Under general supervision, inspects and tests retail fuel dispensing devices and fuel storage tanks; also includes regulatory field inspections at retail fueling locations.

The selected candidate must reside in Chatham County, GA or a residing county OR be willing to relocate for consideration.

Job Summary:

· Registers retail locations and verify that advertised product, pump, and method of sale correspond

· Verifies all fuel products have correct pricing on all road signage, placards, and pumps

· Checks antifreeze brands being sold to ensure they are registered with state fuel laboratory

· Verifies accuracy of fuel dispensers by both volume and monetary indicators according to established procedures

· Collects, transports, submits fuel samples and prescribed reports to State Fuel Lab for analysis

· Responds to complaints or requests in a timely and efficient manner

· Checks underground and above ground storage tanks for proper identification, water and other contaminates, cap seals and takes appropriate action to correct situation as required

· Attends meetings and training seminars as required

· Maintains State vehicle and all associated equipment

· Maintains a consistent, high quality, customer-focused orientation when conducting business with public

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

• Must have a valid Georgia driver’s license
• Must have clean driving record
• Must have communication and customer service skills
• Maintain State vehicle and all equipment related to the job
• Be willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• General knowledge of Windows operating system and basic computer skills
• Basic mathematical skills
• High school diploma or GED required
• Selected applicant must reside or be willing to relocate within a reasonable distance of assigned territory

Physical Demands:

• Stand for long periods of time; intermittent periods of walking, squatting, kneeling, or driving
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs. for short periods of time.
