TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Basic computer aptitude/skills
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Demonstrated extrusion operating skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with SFDC, and MOVEX as warranted.

PERFORMANCE SKILLS:

  • Safety: Able to work within guidance of WFI safety systems. Able to apply safe work habits in a high-risk environment; demonstrate safe use of equipment, knowledge of the management of hazardous waste/materials, knowledge of facility emergency policies, use of fire extinguishers, and proper body mechanics; actively participate in promoting a safe work environment; maintain work area in a neat, clean, well-organized manner.
  • Quality: Able to work within guidance of WFI quality systems. WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

May have occasional exposure to chemical hazards, hot surfaces or noise that may result from performance of duties.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

In summary, the position will require lifting up to ninety (90) pounds with frequent lifting and/or moving of objects up to seventy-five (75) pounds and occasional maneuvering of objects over 100 lbs. Requires use of both hands with occasional repetitive hand movements. Visual acuity required for reading and computer work. Frequent bending, stooping, and stair climbing required with occasional reaching and squatting required. Requires 80% standing and/or walking and 20% sitting. Workweek will consist of 8- or 12-hour shifts depending on the business level, with the number of shifts in a week being dependent on the level business and scrap to be reclaimed. It is expected that a typical work week will be 4 days (4 x 12-hour shifts), sometimes dipping to 3 days, sometimes expanding up to 6 days.

CAREER PATH:

Success in the BSB Extrusion Operator position can lead to BSB Extrusion Lead Operator positions and supervisory positions within the BSB area.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures safe production of quality material while minimizing waste and maximizing production rates.
  • Ensures scrap materials are segregated and labeled accurately.
  • Provides input to Lead Operator on performance issues in the area.
  • Ensures all data flows into SFDC and MOVEX are accurate.
  • Ensures all floor transitions are captured in SFDC including:
    • Recording of production receipts into SFDC.
    • Recording of waste receipts into SFDC.
    • Recording of time into SFDC.
    • Recording of scrap/downtime causes into SFDC.
  • Completes quality checks as dictated by sampling plans.
  • Works safely and promotes safe work practices amongst other Operators.
  • Reports all safety hazards immediately to Plant Supervisor.
  • Reports all machine problems immediately to Plant Supervisor.
  • Reads all order paperwork thoroughly, ensuring that all special instructions are followed carefully.
  • Carefully packages material to meet internal or external customer expectations.
  • Prepares materials for next shift as needed for the line to run effectively.
  • Performs housekeeping duties as needed.
  • Fills out all production paperwork neatly and correctly and turns it in on time.
  • Makes machine adjustments as needed once trained.
  • Performs changeovers as needed once trained.
  • Monitors process, noting any significant changes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
