Shift Supervisor

This is a hands-on leadership role with a strong presence on the manufacturing floor. The Shift Supervisor will play a key leadership role in maximizing productivity, minimizing waste, supporting employee development, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations within the manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, coach, train, and develop hourly production employees.
- Ensure proper staffing and efficient shift operations.
- Monitor safety, quality, productivity, and housekeeping standards.
- Ensure quality checks are completed and products meet specifications.
- Maximize productivity, minimize waste, and ensure adherence to Standard Operating Conditions (SOC).
- Coordinate order and blend changes while minimizing downtime.
- Communicate operational issues and disruptions to management.
- Ensure accurate Shop Floor Data Collection (SFDC) reporting.
- Troubleshoot equipment and process issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Support customer complaint investigations and continuous improvement efforts.
- Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing facility
- In-depth knowledge of extrusion operations and manufacturing processes
- Ability to train, motivate, and supervise employees in a team-oriented environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and make sound operational decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in management, engineering, or a related field
- Experience working with extrusion machinery or related production equipment
- 3+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and lead process improvement initiatives.
Education
- AA degree or equivalent experience.
Additional Details:
- This position is 100% onsite
- This position operates on a rotating 12-hour shift schedule consisting of alternating 2-day and 3-day work blocks (example: 2 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on). The schedule rotates to provide continuous plant coverage and includes every-other weekend work.
- The shift is either 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. OR 8:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.
- This position requires working both in office (30%) and on the floor (70%) environments, with exposure to noise, temperature variations, and production equipment.
- Minimal supervision required; general direction provided on improvement initiatives and knowledge development.
