Overview
SUMMARY:
The Global Factory Service engineer serves as a representative between Global Yamaha Distributors and the YMMC factory. This position will represent YMMC product lines which include ATV/ ROV, Golf Car or Wave-runner, coordinates with the Global Distributors to analyze the scope and importance of market problems in their region and serves as their ambassador by communicating this information to the Factory. When Factory resolutions are implemented, he/she communicates those resolutions back to the Global Distributors. This position provides recommendations for product improvement through various joint activities with Factory members, provides market feedback and offers maintenance ability ideas to Factory teams during new model development. Duties also include preparing and distributing New Model information and training to the Global Distributors
Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- . Market Quality Support
- Responsible for supplying Global Yamaha Distributors with the information and assistance required to support YMMC products in their markets. Including but not limited to; general communications, processing Market Information (MI) reports, maintaining the Market Information Table (MIT), Top 10 activity management, issue Measure Reports (MR) and Technical Service Information (TSI) documents as required.
- Work directly with Factory internal departments to continually reduce countermeasure lead-times by participating in Factory corrective action activities such as but not limited to; Cross functional MI progress meetings, Genba events, Reoccurrence Prevention Activities, Market sample part investigation and Supplier visits.
- Collect, analyze, report and forward sample parts to the manufacturer for further study and counter measures.
- Investigate, analyze and verify market claims before submitting to Factory
- Submit and/or present accurate and timely reports as specified and/or requested. Including but is not limited to Monthly and Market problem and Global warranty analysis reports.
- Summarize and prepare the Market Top 10 priority issues status and present the information every month to Global distributor network and address their concerns back to factory.
- Summarize and prepare the Market Top 10 priority issues status and present the information to Executives at YMMC, YMC, YMUS 2/year.
- New Product Launch Quality Support
- Create and distribute New Model information and training material in collaboration with YMC. Including but not limited to issuing Product Information Guide (PIG) and Service Information Guide (SIG). Plan and execute Global education events (New Model Information Hunting and/or Distributor Service Training) as required.
- Provide market feedback to Factory teams during product development. Including but not limited to; participating in Cover Match and Kensha events for new models, preparing and presenting Service and Market related material during ‘P’ Gate meetings when required.
- Conduct market visits with distributors to evaluate product performance and customer acceptance. Including but not limited to; Product Market Evaluation (PME) activities and Environmental Usage studies.
- Other Tasks
- Coordinate with Factory staff to perform service-related tasks necessary to support the Market as specified and/or requested. This includes but is not limited to maintaining and developing flat rate data, performing serviceability checks, preparing and presenting meeting material.
- Interface with other Global Yamaha personnel in service, parts, sales or other divisions as needed to obtain the information necessary to make objective equitable decisions.
- Interface with distributor’s service, parts, or other divisions as needed to obtain customer satisfaction. Including but not limited to, parts preparation at time of new model introduction and market problem resolution.
- Prepare technical publication e.g. Service Planning Sheet, Project information guide, Market surveys to dealers/distributors
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with applied experience working in a cross functional team environment.
- Ability to create technical documentation with computer applications such as Microsoft word, excel, power point, etc.
- Excellent presentation, coordination and project management skill
- Strong diagnostic skill to accurately determine the underlying cause of issues
- MS Applications, CAD/Solid Works, Blueprint reading, GD&T
- Technical program management experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong hands-on technical aptitude for problem solving.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- 4-year college degree in technical field such as mechanical or Electrical engineering with 3-5 years’ experience or 10-15 experience in lieu of degree.
- A minimum of 5 years of mechanical experience in motorsports or automotive environment.
- ATV, ROV & GC knowledge and riding experience is preferable.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 is preferred.
- Preferable - minimum 5 years of Yamaha service experience.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/REQUIREMENTS:
- Fast paced original equipment manufacturing facility (OEM).
- Must be able to handle multiple projects at the same time with timely and accurate conclusions. Perform various tasks for a variety of different levels of management. Must be able to communicate ideas and propose the quality kaizens effectively.
- Working Hours: 1st shift.
- Some travel may also be required
